Lately Sundays seem to be tough on our family. I’m not exactly sure why, but it’s filled with stress and fights and playing catch up and too much busy.
We happened to have no plans yesterday afternoon, and it was incredibly hot and humid for late September, so I scheduled a late afternoon play date with another family we love at the beach. We got sandwiches from our local pizza place and I packed snacks. O ran off with his best friend and played in the water and sand, where it was 10 degrees cooler than on land, and Jeff and I sat on beach chairs and drank beers and listened to the ocean’s roar, the sunset a pink backdrop at our backs, the salty tang of the breeze on our skin.
It was bliss.
And I got this picture of my boys before the sun went down.
I’d be lying if I said the ocean was a tonic for our Sundays, because pretty much when we got in the car to go home, the stress and fights came right back.
But the beach was a wonderful respite last night.
